Field Application Scientist, Boston

We are seeking a Field Application Scientist to support sales and customers as the technical product and application expert. The role reports into the Senior Director, Global Service & Support. A successful candidate will have an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial work ethic, strong proteomics background, and excellent communication and presentation skills. This person will work closely with sales, product management, market development, and marketing.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct customer meetings independently and in collaboration with Sales.
  • Understand and communicate technical details of QSI’s products and applications.
  • Identify customer needs and/or problems, and knowledgeably provide solutions using QSI’s reagents, kits, and assay product placement.
  • Present technical seminars remotely or in-person.
  • Mindfully promote product positioning and messaging in all customer interactions.
  • Promote new applications from customers to Market Development and Product Management for further consideration.
  • On site demos: Partner to develop detailed experimental plan, expected outcomes, and set expectations.
  • Manage Technical Support cases via CRM (SFDC) – e-mail, phone, site visits.
  • Manage onsite and remote installation trainings of QSI’s system and reagent product workflow.
  • Determine when instrument repairs are needed and initiate repair process.
  • On-going collaboration with Marketing functions assisting with updating product & training collateral, delivering webinars, and attending tradeshows.

 

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biology, or related field.
  • Masters/PhD preferred but not required if have 3+ years lab experience.
  • 2+ combined years field application or similar technical support roles required OR combination of lab experience with technical support component.
  • Strong technical background in one or all the following: Proteomics, Mass Spectrometry, NGS.
  • Ability to translate theoretical approaches of different research areas and stay up to date on relevant scientific applications.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Take initiative and have a strong growth mindset.

 

Location and Travel Expectations:

  • This position is remote and based on the East Coast, in or within 40 miles of Boston, MA.
  • This position will require travel not to exceed 50% (2 weeks per month).

 

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $90,000 - $125,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
