Reimagining Proteomics: Emerging Applications and the Future of Protein Sequencing
October 5, 2026
Missed the lunchtime seminar at World HUPO 2026? Watch it on demand!
In this data-driven and thought-provoking presentation, Quantum-Si CEO, Jeff Hawkins and VP of Market Development, Dave Sloan, PhD, delve into the way single-molecule protein sequencing has evolved over the past several years and provide a first-look at interim data, illustrating how Proteus™, the next-generation protein sequencing platform*, substantially outperforms the current Platinum® Pro system across key sequencing performance metrics, making Proteus a fundamentally unique and improved platform technology rather than an incremental upgrade.
Key points from the presentation:
- In a 24-protein test panel, Proteus detected all 24 proteins, while Platinum Pro detected an average of 20.3 proteins.
- Projected ~60× more alignments from a full four-chamber Proteus run compared with a two-chamber Platinum Pro run.
- Proteus generated 269,864 amino-acid detections versus 63,366 for Platinum Pro in that study.
- 1.6× to 2.0× more peptide identifications in protein mixture experiments.
- 4.8× lower false discovery rate (1.36% Proteus median FDR versus 6.58% Platinum median FDR).
- 30× more alignments per chamber than Platinum Pro in control peptide studies.
- The developmental sequencing chemistry for Proteus currently detects 18 amino acids and all 20 canonical amino acids will be identifiable in 2027.
