Scientist I, Biochemistry

As a Scientist I, Biochemistry, you'll deeply engage with intricate protein/enzyme systems, developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting vital protein reagents essential to our groundbreaking sequencing technology. Your main duties will include employing advanced high-throughput biochemical and biophysical techniques to characterize the multiple classes of engineered proteins, conducting, and interpreting protein activity to identify the improvements, and sharing data and reports within a diverse team.

 

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Optimize and execute high throughput protein screening methods.
  • Characterize proteins and biological systems using biochemical and biophysical techniques.
  • Design, execute, and interpret protein activity/binding assays for HTP platforms.
  • Report results to the scientific team and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team.

 

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • MS or BS with 3+ years of industry or academic lab experience in Biochemistry/ Biophysics/Molecular Biology or related field
  • Energetic and inquisitive, with a proven track record of thriving in fast-paced and technical environments.
  • Biochemical experience handling active proteins/enzymes.
  • Ability to swiftly learn and adeptly set up and operate complex instrumentation and laboratory automation.
  • Capacity to strategically plan, execute, and evaluate multiple scientific strategies concurrently when appropriate.
  • Exemplary organizational, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality results, overcoming challenges, and prioritizing execution.
  • Ability to work onsite at Rutgers University five days a week.

 

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Experience in quantitative Biochemical/Biophysical assays.

 

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $ 70,000 - $90,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
