Director of Corporate Development

QSI is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Director of Corporate Development to join our team. This leader will work closely with our senior management in shaping the strategic direction of our company, forging strategic partnerships, and driving initiatives that support the company’s growth and market expansion objectives. This individual will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, including licensing, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and strategic activities. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, analytical skills, and leadership abilities, as well as a deep understanding of proteomics, multi-omics, and the life sciences tools industry. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Program Management, Strategy and Operations.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in developing, executing, and managing the company’s business development strategy.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation and execution of business development opportunities including licensing, partnerships, alliances, and/or joint ventures.
  • Identify strategic gaps in development and commercial pipeline and drive alignment on priorities and operating framework.
  • Monitor competitive intelligence by keeping up to date on market trends, competitors, and external opportunities.
  • Establish and lead cross-functional teams to develop technical, commercial, and financial proposals for all new business opportunities, including emerging technologies and potential assets of interest.
  • Proactively seek, establish, and leverage contacts from academic institutions, venture firms, biotech/biopharma, and mid to large pharmaceutical companies to gain precompetitive insights and early access to compelling opportunities.
  • Lead/implement strategic partnership and/or licensing initiatives important to the success of the company.
  • Partner with Leaders to evaluate evolving operating models across the business, analyzing shifting needs both near and long-term (i.e. build vs. buy vs. partner analysis).
  • Partners closely with R&D, Commercial, Operations, and Finance.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

 

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Life Science required, MBA, PhD, other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience partnering, licensing, business development, consulting, equity research, or investment banking experience.
  • Knowledge and deep domain experience in proteomics, multi-omics, and life sciences, as well as strong networks within industry, academia, and the venture capital community.
  • Track record of introducing novel business opportunities that are synergistic with the company’s existing operations.
  • Track record of building long-term relationships and/or deal sheet that demonstrates ability to lead a search and evaluation process and contribute to successful execution of transactions.

 

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $ 175,000- $200,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position,  an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
