Job Description

Quantum-Si is looking for a Tax Manager to work directly with the VP, Controller and will be responsible for managing tax planning, compliance, and accounting for income taxes. The Tax Manager will work closely with service providers, business channels and other internal teams to appropriately manage tax risk and deliver on the Company’s goals. This position will also be involved in international tax.

This position is partially remote, partially onsite (hybrid-model).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Company’s lead tax expert and advisor in all tax matters.
  • Responsible for preparing the income tax provision for the Company.
  • Research and analyze technical tax issues, correctly apply conclusions, and record the impact on the financial statements.
  • Lead the implementation of software applications to effectively track sales/use tax reporting obligations.
  • Effectively manage external service providers preparing various tax returns, including sales/use tax, property tax, and federal/state income tax.
  • Ability to work with international tax advisors and advise Company on strategies.
  • Manage audits and inquiries by federal and state governmental authorities.
  • Partner with cross functional teams throughout the company to ensure all direct and indirect taxes are accounted for correctly.
  • Oversee all indirect taxes, including sales and use, and property.
  • Review tax disclosures in the Company’s SEC filings (10K, 10-Qs, etc.).

Qualifications/Required Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of corporate income tax experience, Big 4 tax experience preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of income tax provision and accounting requirements under US GAAP (ASC 740 and related guidance) and IFRS.
  • Experience demonstrates ability to identify, analyze, and communicate complex income tax issues and their implications to the Company to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, written or verbal, at all levels of the organization and external organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with the Accounting/Finance team.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must excel in a fast-paced start-up type environment.
